could my dvd drive be dying or is it in collusion with my alarm to scare the shit out of me

Woke to my alarm and then a second later my dvd/cd drive on the desktop started up all of its own. Awful noise of it running likely at its highest speed but with no disk in there. Shut down the compy, made breakfast and did a restart. Everything is working fine but I'm not game to touch the drive at all. Thoughts?

I'm so starting to do a backup tonight after I get home from work. Will likely turn off the desktop until then just in case.

Am so very tired. Did not sleep well at all last night. Between me waking up and Shadow waking me up I must've woken up at least 5-6 times. No idea what is going on there. I really needed a good nights sleep too. Morning just comes too damn quickly.

I'm going to go back up things like important email and chat logs and my fics folder to the laptop. Then it'll be off to work *clings*
