Very quick post cos I'm out the door to work.

Pre-reg for $40 at Y-con ends at the end of this month. Make sure your paperwork to post is dated by the end of the month and sent so you can get the cheap rate.

Another person to look for at con - Cydling is coming this year. Not seen Cyd since my first con in 04 when I went to Canada after. Will be good :)

Errr...sewing is not happening at the moment. Too cold and unmotivated. Am also gaining weight :O Must get my butt into gear and stuff happening.

Must dash! *loves all* <3333

Already did my pre-reg, so I'm covered. Also purchased plane tickets yesterday for only $180 *joy*:

Arrive - Wednesday, Oct 28th, 12:10pm
Leave - Monday, Nov 2nd, 1:45pm

Hope work didn't drive you too crazy tonight.

tickets for only 180? oh so envious!! mine is 708! oh well, i am coming from canada and it's worth it.

mine is in the mail! ^___________^

it's been a long time. 5 years mah dear.

I'm pretty patient with getting plane tickets. ;) There was actually a $150 option if I stayed until Tuesday (which, yes, I know you wanted Gnome), but the $30 wasn't worth another night at the hotel and the potential of missing a class. Sadly, it sounds like I'm going to miss the class I didn't want to miss, anyway, but I'll need the extra chance to do homework, too.

Ouch, didn't realize it was that much more expensive to come in from Canada. It's not that much further, I don't think. =P

Where about are you? I'm in the middle of manitoba. actually, up north in manitoba.
if i wanted to fly straight from my town, you'd have to tack on at least a grand onto to that price, easily.

Work drives me crazy every day. Worst time is when school gets out and you have parents and their kids and the random teens getting about the store and you have to watch them and avoid getting run over all while still doing your work and helping customers find stuff. Crazy indeed.

I think most our group has the pre-reg thing done. Money is of much importance this year so we all are trying to save where we can. I forgive you for not staying an extra night as the saving on the flight would be negated by the need for room and food. Best to head home and get some proper rest. Con is far from restful with all that we get up to <3

I still so beat you both with flight cost and all the rest. Although this year I got an awesome price that made my flight like over 1k cheaper than previous years. Super awesome deal yay.

Your con trip has definitely been 5 years in the making. Kalli and I kept trying to get you to go but the timing was never quite right due to work or school or whichever or lack of funds. This year is it! :D

Oh yes, 5 years in the making.
Over the years, I planned to go and it always fell through. The year I plan not to go, everything's a go!
It'll be good.

yes, yes you do! but you have an ocean between the landmasses. I just have ...dun Dun DUN!!! Customs.

Glad that you aren't too upset over the Monday return. I did consider it, but the chances of my class being on a Monday or Tuesday were pretty damn good... and of course two days later, I found out that no, my class will probably be on a Wednesday. Curses! I thought I was going to beat the system. Well, I'm just missing the very first class, so I'm not too worried. Heck, the dean at my site just smiled when I told her about it and said that I was an excelling student and it wouldn't be a problem to miss that one class. I'm curious where she got the idea that I'm "excelling". A's are one things, excelling is another. I hope she's not reading all of our papers, too. ^^;

But yay, glad that everyone is settled. Now, if only I could find a good price to go to Reno and see my parents in July. It's my mother's 60th birthday. We aren't doing anything, per our lazy natures, but it'll be wonderful to see them.

A-ah, nevermind - you're further than I was thinking. Don't ask me why, I defaulted to Vancouver when you mentioned Yaoi Con. I think it's because people tend to travel to cons within easier traveling distance. Of course, Gnome and the other internationals are major exceptions. ;) And yes, direct flights are always more expensive, but sometimes they are worth that cost. I've been stuck at airports with all-day layovers a couple too many times for me to settle for a flight that isn't direct.

.... i don't know.. well, customs and immigration. they just bunch them together for us. because customs alone isn't scary enough. the bastards.

From: [identity profile] gardensgnome.livejournal.com

immigration is harder than customs I think as you have to answer more questions. which sucks after a long haul flight and you're not very awake or looking your best. filling out paperwork for customs and immigration on the plane is mind hurty as well. things we do for our travel plans.

From: [identity profile] hecatesbrat.livejournal.com

i'm thinking both for AU is brutal.
reading through the lists of things for travel and stuff like that, it's intimidating!

From: [identity profile] gardensgnome.livejournal.com

You get used to it after going through a few times. i think I worry them cos I"m so cheerful but I can't help if I'm disgustingly happy to be on holidays. traveling alone is easier in this regard as you only have yourself to worry about.

i wish i was somewhere easy for traveling. it was when i was back in winnipeg - but con plans fell through often.

all day layovers... *snickers* i was looking to see if there was anything from my town to san fran (didn't matter how many connections) found one. on the way back, it had this huuuge gap in time from winnipeg to up north. i'm assuming that it would be that i'd have to spend the night, but it didn't say anything about it. my reaction was "what? you sleep on the plane?"

From: [identity profile] hecatesbrat.livejournal.com

first time i ever went through customs/immigration was when i was 13. i was coming back from chicago and scared shitless. i was there for 6 hours.

omg yes that second shirt wins. the first would be so wrong and so cracky on a pair of mens shorts. the need cuter gnomes though instead of generic looking ones. i don't need a gnome shirt though seeing as I am a gnome ;)

how come so long in immigration? i'm usually through it all within half an hour depending on how long the line is.
