In breaking news and after a half hour chat with mum...Tina is pregnant with the 5th child. I'm totally floored. Shanylee was born in February so they are going to be very close together in age. Everyone hope for a boy or poor Wes is going to be totally out numbered.

In less breaking news we're working on Jecht. Holiday - what's that? XD

Tis very windy here today and so I'm hiding indoors. We have things to do and we've had food already so it's all good.

Not much else to report ;) The kitties seem to have warmed up to me and it's taken only a couple days. Am quite happy with that.

Off making armor I go <3

a 5th baby huh? that's... wow. hope Wes gets a boy!

what do you normally make armor out of? i'm hoping that my next cosplay will be ...well, i'm not sure at the moment! check out [livejournal.com profile] cydling and toss an idea my way!

A-ha found the comment asking about armor. This is what I get for having unanswered emails on the lappy as well as the desktop.

To make armor we just used sheets of craft foamies and covered them with glue and fabric after getting everything to the shape we wanted. That's what we did for Jecht's armor on his arm. For Braska's headdress I used varying thickness sheets of foam covered in fabric as well as cardboard tubes cut in half and then covered in fabric. It all depends on the look you're going for as well as weight, ease of movement and cost. Cost is a big factor for us who like to travel for our cons >.>

I'll have to dig up my notes from Aki-con because they suggested something for making armor that looked like it was good stuff to use. I'm fairly sure I wrote the name of it down but will do a google search first to make sure.

Awesome! a friend sent me a link for other stuff for armor too.
Wonderflex I'd like to try it for one of the Knight costumes.
More Armor info

oh yes, weight and movement and what not are all factors that would be at the forefront of what you're making.

That stuff looks really neat. I did a little poking about of the links you have and googled wonderflex for over here and it doesn't look like it's available in Australia. But looking at local costume forums one of the people there get it from that site. Let me know how it goes if you do end up trying it out.
