Jo poked me asking about the cyclone so here's what's happening.

At the moment we're not too worried. Tomorrow after work we're gonna punish the credit card and do an emergency supplies shop of things like tin food for us and Shadow and batteries and candles and water. Looking at the forecast they expect it to be eastish of Bundaberg on late Tuesday afternoon. That's as much as has been done so far.

If you hear anything about Tewantin, we're about a 20-30 minute drive inland from there and we're currently on vague "consider what if" type alert. Give it another day or so and we'll definitely be on full alert. The house is not going to get flooded although we might get flooded in road-wise. It's the wind that is our issue as we live in a old high-set Queenslander. Theres at least one tree that does need pruning *sighs*

local radar link (Pomona is under kinda under the first o in Cooran and in line witht he top of the T in Tewantin...we so should be on the map dammit)
cyclone track map

Will keep everyone updated and if we lose power or such and I can't get online I'll be phoning/texting Kalli or Suk to keep updates happening. But between now and something happening there's likely to be daily updates.

Maybe it's time to sign up for twitter *ponders*

If you hear anything about Tewantin...

I'll be keeping that in mind. =) Queensland is a pain in the arse when it comes to tracking...there's so many communities crammed along the coast. I like WA better. =p I instantly know where they're talking about.

WA has the whole west coast to spread stuff out along, we're all shoved in here together *grin* I'm glad to not be closer to the coast as we have a lovely range between us and the sea. Noosa and Tewantin though have been known to flood on king tides. I've got to remember to take pics of the local park if we have a flood this time around.

I grew up across the Exmouth Gulf from the most cyclone prone town on EARTH! Onslow has that lovely distinction...The thing about Exmouth though...and I'll go more into it when I post my '10 years ago...' Cyclone Vance post in a few days, is Exmouth was established in 1964. The joint Aus/US coalition that created the town, knew this and built for it. And they still got their arses kicked when Vance rolled through...

Anyhoo...we did have Queenslander houses as well, because as dry as it is out there, they flood in a light sprinkle. =p It seriously depended on the weather, whose house you would go to.

Keep safe down there! Hopefully it'll be nothing you even notice beyond some bad wind and rain. Have you gone through something like this before? You sound calm about it, so I'm assuming you have and know the right things to get done.

I am a little worried but not too worried. Apparently it's still moving generally parallel to the coast but also a tiny bit away from it but cyclones are hella unpredictable.

I've actually not been through anything like this before. Bucket loads of rain and flooding yes but not the winds that could hit here if it does come across. The wind scares me more than the rain. I'll likely get serious about stuff when it gets windier here. Right now it's just a little breezy with vague rain. I'll probably spend tomorrow evening doing compy back-up or something. I already know my to grab items are Shadow, purse, laptop and some clothes.

But yeah, not worried yet but everyone will know when that changes ;) *hugs*
