So if you were writing a KH fic but based on the FF characters - aka my Cid & Vincent stuff, what comm would you post it to? That's if I go through with sharing it outside the flist >.>

I'd still post it to an FF7 yaoi community and just say it's set in the KH verse. I've seen some KH elitists bitch pretty hard core about what's the point of writing only FF characters in KH fics x___X they'd never comment in your face about it though.

I ended up emailing the comm I was thinking of posting to and they've given me the okay. The rules just don't say anything specific about characters originally from the game and they've been used elsewhere, aka KHverse, but they do say things like pertaining to FF7 or FF7 compilations. KH is and isn't a FF spinoff imo. it's like a stewing blackhole that everything can and does get sucked into :D

Well, as long as the mods say it's ok, then I guess the KH elitists won't be able to say anything either.

I've just been a part of some KH art communities, and they were pretty adamant about FF characters that don't show up in KH not being allowed.

Well Vincent was lined up to be appearing at one stage I think...it should count ;) It's a shame some fans are so narrow-minded as it means they don't want anything remotely AU within KH which is in many ways is the most awesome mass AU ever. It's like they are denying others the right to slip characters into the fandom which is sad as Vincent needs to be with the other FF7 characters in KH. Really he does *nods* I actually avoid the KH comms to avoid the wank and also because my main interest lies in the FF characters, some of which I'll have any which way I can. Mmmmm Leon *purrs*

I'd post both in KH comms, FF comms, and any Cid/Vinnie comms. Cause it works under all catagories. But like the person above said make sure to mention it's KH verse.

Cause really all KH verse is is an AU of sorts.

KH is definitely the AU for everything where anything goes and any fandom can get sucked in. Tht is the whole purpose of the game...besides the Orgy characters *grin*

I'm only planning on posting to the one comm. The Cid/Vin one on lj seems kinda dead and I don't follow the KH one although I do think I'm still a member. Am just strange like that.

Hmmm. Difficult choice. Afaik, there are one or two Cid/Vincent comms out on LJ, but I don't know about their rules as to the KH verse. I'd say, choose any that looks comfortable to you... I mean, technically, nobody has a right to bitch (unless the rules say something explicit). I think they'd welcome some well-written stuff.

There is well written stuff out there in the comms...it's just drowned under the posts that aren't properly labeled or are full of bad porns or just bad fic in general. Or it's the wrong pairing and I just don't read. I must admit that recently I've found myself re-reading older stuff by fave authors instead of looking for new stuff.

I think when posting to a pairing comm it shouldn't matter which fandom they are being written in but for fandom based comms you have to check first so to avoid getting yelled at. Which I just did and have been given the okay to post in one of the ff7 yaoi comms. I don't often post outside the flist anymore as some days it's just too much hassle/effort to do it. Time to step out of my comfort zone a little I guess.

Yes. Same with me. I've just... I've left mostly all of the FFVII comms for precisely that reason. Bad porn, totally WTF pairings, no writing skills, and everyone wanking about CC and DC and BC. *eyeroll* No offense, but I don't care about any of these new characters. I've found myself with a low tolerance for crappy fic lately... before I used to go out digging to find some good stuff, but... I dunno. If you want to swap recs or something sometime, I'd be very happy. :)

Yes. I don't see how it matters, anyway. Cid from FFVII is a grumpy, chain-smoking, spear-wielding space pilot. Cid from KH is a grumpy, chain-smoking, spear-wielding space pilot. Ummmm. Vincent doesn't exist in KH, but if he did, he'd be muttering into his collar, walking on roofs, being moody, and freaking everyone out with his random appearances. I mean, seriously... they're the same characters. They might not share the same backstory, but their basic personalities are intact.

But I'm glad to hear everything went well. I've become a total hermit myself... I can't even explain exactly why, apart from all the wank and badfic out there. I get this vague feeling that fandom has become pretty hostile lately in some cases, but I don't know if it's just my imagination.

PS: Cid/Vincent is a total pet pairing favorite of mine, but WAHWAHWAHWAH WHY DOES EVERYONE MAKE THEM OOC. Well. Present company excepted, of course. :P Seriously, I'd be into that pairing so much more if people would remember that they are two grumpy "old" men, not twelve-year-old emo girls. orz
