Started writing my prompt instead of sleeping and I'm about to pass out but first a poll cos yeah I want to know...

Reason I'm asking is the prompt I'm writing has been written both ways over on springkink so I'm curious. Comment with reasons if you like :) For me it's a mood thing of who seems to be more dominant in the scene. Although I am actually now wondering if I've ever written Squall topping Irvine.

Not sure if it'll affect the outcome of who tops in the fic but I'm heading in the direction of porns when I keep writing it tomorrow night.

Seriously, I can see it either way with the boys, but Squall is a 'whatever' sort of guy and being seme requires a certain degree of mind-numbing lust Squall doesn't really have... when first starting a relationship, at least.

Even in a first encounter type thing where Squall is hard up for some fucking and hasn't had any in a while and Irvine is kinda offering...although he probably may not yet realize he's gonna be on the bottom?

Yes, I can see Seifer kicking Irvine's ass and possibly Squall's too for sharing himself with someone else.

*grins* I can imagine a Squall who is sick of Irvine doing the flirting game and decides to show the sniper whom he is really dealing with. That would be highly amusing as Irvine wonders what the fuck he got into... not that he wouldn't enjoy it. ;)

To my mind they definitely switch. Like you, it just depends on the fic and how they're relating to each other. I can see Squall having serious issues about bottoming early in a relationship due to intimacy problems and such; similarly an Irvine still in semi-denial about his bisexuality.

All the the FF characters have issues of a sort, makes them fun to write with as you try to help them out by pesting them :)

However it happens I like to have plausible lead up to them getting it on. Situation and mood shows up to a point who is gonna top but Squall being Squall ends up more on the bottom for me. Irvine is just very suave and knowledgeable seeming. Maybe I should write Squall top for this just to see where it ends up. I do need to reread though as i don't think I have Irvine as his usual confident self, might even be a little ooc.

Yes, I am cruel but you know that already ;) I'll agree that it is hard to choose. I"m used to have Irvine top Squall as it's the way I've written them and usually read them unless it's a longer fic and they've got to the stage of Squall topping. Just curious as to how others see them.

Squall is far too much of an uke for me. Sure, I'm sure he could top occasionally and switch positions. But really Irvy is a topper through and through.

Though I got to be honest. I almost hit Squall/Irvine cause all my brain registered in my sleepy state was: Mm.. Yaoi. Then read what the poll was about.

honestly, i have never thought of squall as a seme. it's a personality thing. yeah, he's all kick ass and fierce in battle, but when faced emotionally and sexually with a confident and slick-as-lube irvine, he totally doesn't compare. and with him being a kind of loner and little more closed off than most, i really don't see him ever really aggressively taking the reins in their relationship. maybe, after some time, he can lead a slow love-making or something, a once in a while kind of thing, but never the hot and heavy stuff.

but, yeah, that's my opinion. irvine tops everyone. unless he's being raped, but that's another story, and something i just don't want to see happen, lol

I think if Irvine got him hot enough and said go for it Squall would top. It'd be a little awkward to begin with and he'd probably tell Irvine to shut up and not call him pet names. Really does depend on how they are being written. Irvine can be all confident where girls are concerned but guys might baffle him until he figures out he finds them hot for different reasons that being attracted to girls. Squall too may be hiding something from his peers for fear of retribution...he gets enough shit from Seifer already that the man doesn't need more ammunition. Squall is definitely something though in all those belts and leather.

Agree with the non-rape thing. That's something I don't want to read myself.
